Seems like a fairly high price for a six cylinder Daytona Sports Sedan. It must be a nice example or two bidders that wanted it.

        Daytona
        230 engine
        3-spd w/overdrive

Look at your production figures for a '66 Daytona with that engine/transmission combination and you'll see why!!

As you probably know, low production and high price usually do not correlate. In fact, the opposite is often true, like 1957 Chevrolets versus 1958 Packards.

Geez, I think that was a STEAL!
No deceptive flags to prove I'm patriotic - no biblical BS to impress - just ME and Studebakers - as it should be.

It may not be my cup of tea, but I think you would be hard pressed to build one that nice for the dollars.

An extremely intelligent person with excellent taste. What a sweet survivor ! Considering what you can buy today - that isn't Studebaker influenced, a good price indeed.
and, no, I don't know who either.

Again, for the record, the car is not a true 'survivor' I did a 'body on' restoration on the car in 1984.

That is truly a bargain. A wonderful tour car for that kind of money; unique and dependable. Well bought! BP

Were you in South Bend with that car in 1988?

It's funny you say that, Craig, I was wondering the same thing.

It was my first 'big' meet and I really didn't know anybody there. I remember admiring a '66 Daytona Sports Sedan in the same color at the Holiday Inn parking lot north of town, and the owner was applying a dab of touch-up paint to one door. I spoke to him, and he was angry (rightly so) that someone in a contemporary car had opened their door into the '66. He was grumbling about the Holiday Inn not having separate Stude parking considering they were the "Official" meet hotel. I don't know if that was Jim (Lark Truck) or not!

Yep, that's the one I saw! He had a nasty note taped to the window above it that started with "OUCH! at the top and a complaint about paying for lack of parking lot security.
