  • Help decoding body tag info - 1950 2R-10-22 truck ?

Hoping someone in the group here can decode the numbers on the body tag of a truck I am considering...

Truck in question is supposed to be a 1950 3/4 ton ( but it has tube shocks, look like factory ). Small six, 3 speed on column, no Climatizer (never had).

Question about the engine: did the truck sixes have crank jaws on crank pulley? This has the hole through the grille, but just a plain bolt-head on the crank pulley; also, had oil-filler in front of distributor, and separate dipstick towards rear of engine - wondering if someone swapped-in a car engine ?

    From Serial plate:

    Truck serial#: R10 221**

    Model: 2R 10-22

    GVW 6100 lbs.

    From Body Tag:

    Model #: 2R C2

    Body #: 111275

    Trim: T 6036

Paint: P 2187 (? possibly "2107" ? stamping half into lower black border of plate, hard to read this number.)

I would appreciate the help if someone can decode this info, or direct me to any on-line references...

    Thanks !

I do not have the needed references available.
I can tell you that it is a six cylinder (170 ci standard), 3/4 ton, 122 inch wheelbase, pickup.
The body number looks about right for a 1950.

Confirm what Gary said. The serial number is correct for a 1950 2R10. The body number tag is just the sequential number of the cab structure. Cab numbers were used to help dealers keep track of running changes, and had no other significance. Cabs were pulled from stock as needed, and were not synchronized with serial numbers. C2 just means it's a standard cab, as opposed to a deluxe, which would have been C4. The paint number translates to a particular color, but I don't have my books handy. The trim number was the same for all 2R trucks, and indicated the color of the tan used on the dash trim.

Find the engine number stamped on the block and that will tell you if it the correct engine or a replacement.
