  • What is hiding under the storage compartments in your Starlight?

I just removed the interior on a 50 Commander Starlight. When I took out the rear storage compartments I was surprised to find a package of smokes along with some small kids toys. I guess they fell down behind the back seat and slid under the compartment.

So what is hiding under yours??? Maybe a $50 gold piece is hiding there

My Studebaker dealer friend, Ed Filer, had told me that the armrest compartments in the rear of a Starlight Coupe ('47-52) were a great place to stash beer cans or bottles!

Nothing in the compartments on mine but 60 year old dust. I will be pulling everything out soon though, so I'll keep an eye out for any hidden vintage treasures!

Post some pics if you can, Milt. I'm taking photos as I pull my door panels and will post progress in another thread.

When I first got the car I cleaned out the compartments and found old newspapers and some cool soda bottles from long out of business companies and one old beer bottle. I never dreamed there would be things under the boxes.

When I bought my 53 K, the center arm rest in the back seat contained several 'NOS' condoms.
