  • V8 Stick Starter Mounting Bolts

Does anyone know a source for NEW V8 stick starter mounting bolts? If need be I can some machined from longer 1/2 socket head cap srews. I have some fair condition used ones. I would be interested in some "NICE" used ones.

Hang tight, Jon. Jim Pepper has a photo of the appropriate bolt with technical specs and dimensions coming up in the December 2012 Turning Wheels' Co-Operator.

Meanwhile, the part number you are looking for is 529367. BP

      Thanks Bob,

A drawing will save some hassel at the machine shop. I will send a copy of the drawing to Lakewood too so they can get the act together on the SFI bellhousing issues.

      Regards,

      Jon Kammer

Jon: I just got the Proof Copy of the December Co-Operator from Ann, so here is the exchange for your early reference:

this is great information, and as I'm going to need three of these, I did a quick search, armed with the part number. Tried my favorites (Chuck Collins and SI) no luck. Tried Google, and the only thing that came up was this thread. Nothing on eBay or CL, even using Studebaker, or just starter bolts. Maybe after all these years sourcing parts, I've been doing it the wrong way.
If a supplier wants to chime in and tell us about the bucketload of these gems they have for sale, I'm ready to pick some up.

My thoughts are to take a standard socke head 1/2" shoulder bolt and turn down the OD to 0.3475. It will nve a 3/8-16 thread but a waher will get you where you need to be. I will try to figure which standard bolt to start with and make a drawing this weekend. If it looks good I will have my local machine shop get me a price on "A" modifying the shoulder bolt and "B" making a bolt from scratch.

I think I can dig up a couple used ones if you get desparate.

I think Ted must've edited his post just before posting.
He probably said he could dig up a couple hundred used ones from his stash! BP
