  • 1941 Studebaker champion wins best of show at dulles carshow

My 1941 Studebaker champion won best of show at the Dulles car show on 9-22. The car was preped very well the day before and was near perfect. It is not often that folks get to see a prewar car at a show of this type. There were many cars at the show and this one was one of many originals. Some of the stories that I was told made me think that Studebakers were very important to people in their everday lives more so then I first imagined. i was never so proud of a car the way I was yesterday. A gentleman stopped me on my way out and told me that by not altering he car he had the upmost respect for me. That touched me. This car has been in movies and done it's duty. I just wanted the Studebaker world to know that our cars are loved by many.

GOOD for YOU!! I love the old orignals. I wish I had a prewar. I once owned a 40 Commander but sadly had to let it go after I wrecked a Hawk and was laid up for 2 months.

Congratulations on your win. That is a fine-looking car. These 1941 Studes are coming into their own. I have one just like yours, including fender skirts, except the color. I couldn't believe when it got a first place in its division at South Bend and a best of show at the tri-state meet. I drive it just about every day.

I'd be proud of that car too. The top and trim color is unusual. A dealer added item?

                        what a beauty!!!

curious if yours, and Mr. Ensley's "skirts" were original equipment, dealer accessories or later add-ons?

i took the skirts off my '40 after the consensus here on the forum were that they were added later, as they appeared to be "too large".Click image for larger version

after that - no trophy, but picked up a couple of "Original Survivor" plaques at local car shows...

                        again, congratulations!
