I was ploughing through some olde 'Motor Trend' Magazines on the weekend
and in the June 1962 issue , in the 'Sell 'n' Swap' section , found an interesting
small advert from Bruce Clayton as follows :-
LATE MODEL PACKARDS - stock , re-manufactured. Buy your contemporary
classic now from our large inventory . Phone enquiries only . Days - 201-363-
3222 : nights - 201-363-0015 . Bruce Clayton 125 Main St. Lakewood , NJ.
Some of you out there may remember that this is the same Bruce Clayton who
turned up in an extensive article in 'Car and Driver' Magazine , September 1970.
Under the Heading , "Man caught in a Time Warp" by Leon Mandel , Bruce Clayton
was said to "Sell new Studebaker Cars . At this moment he has two Cruisers and
an Avanti 11 he would dearly like you to buy" .Said to be ' The World's last extant
Studebaker / Packard dealership and it's as American as apple pie' , the lot was
full of 15 year old Packards and Studebakers to prove it .
Just wondering if there are people out there with first hand experiences of having
dealt with Bruce Clayton . Did any of you buy vehicles from this Dealership . ?
In the 'Car and Driver' article , Bruce Clayton is made out to be an interesting guy. !
