Well, Gary; if you did not see a Fairlane 500 Town Sedan, you may have to click on the general link that displays all the 1958 Ford brochures. There is distinctly a large photo of a brown 1958 Fairlane 500 Town Sedan with cream or white roof. BP

Yes, I did learn this, Bob. Please go back and read my edited post, that was edited to be in agreement with you. I edited my post 17 minutes before your latest post.Originally posted by BobPalma View Post
So, honest, it's OK to say, "Hey, I learned something today!" And you should have learned that the 1958 Ford line included models Ford officially identified as:
Fairlane 500 Town Sedan
Fairlane Town Sedan
Fairlane 500 Town Victoria
Fairlane Town Victoria
Fairlane 500 Club Sedan
Fairlane Club Sedan
Fairlane 500 Club Victoria
Fairlane Club Victoria.
OK? BP

Then the three chrome strips, and the gold anodized aluminum within the cove must have been a sort of a trim option to make an ordinary Fairlane look like a Fairlane 500. Of course, there was a 'Chrome Dress-up Kit' to make a '58 Scotsman look like a '57 Champion Deluxe at first glance.Originally posted by studegary View PostNO - The black car that you pictured in the other post is a Fairlane with the Country Club option package, not a Fairlane 500.

Craig: The gold anodized within the cove still wouldn't make it look like a Fairlane 500, because the 500s had a full-length bodyside spear with an expanded area of gold anodized amidships, quite unlike a base Fairlane with the cove treatment.Originally posted by 8E45E View PostThen the three chrome strips, and the gold anodized aluminum within the cove must have been a sort of a trim option to make an ordinary Fairlane look like a Fairlane 500. Now, is there a possibility that Canadian models were different? Wasn't that back when they differed considerably from their U.S. counterparts? BP

To expand on Bob P's. correct answer. The gold within the cove was part of the Country Club option package. This did not make the Fairlane look like a Fairlane 500. It just dressed up the Fairlane. My father in law bought his new in 1958 and I bought it from him in 1963. I traded it in on a 1961 Lark VIII Regal in 1964. The Country Club package was not common. I do not remember ever seeing another while we owned the car. All of this applies to USA cars. I know that Canada did different things.Originally posted by 8E45E View PostThen the three chrome strips, and the gold anodized aluminum within the cove must have been a sort of a trim option to make an ordinary Fairlane look like a Fairlane 500.
