To: the1sasquach,----- The 224" engine, (which Your truck may have originally came with), might be a bit hard to find, but the 259's and to a lesser extent the 289's are still easy to find. The rebuild kits are
available from the larger Stude vendors. I recommend avoiding kits that feature a 'one piece' style piston oil ring.

Is your truck originally a V8? If an E7 1/2t or E12 3/4t, it would have been a 224". If a 1t-up, a 259".
Do you have the core engine, flywheel, bellhousing and transmission? Which transmission?
I'm in Spokane and have a '55 224" running engine core, as well as 259" and 289" cores. Talk to me off-forum about building one to your specifications.

Are you looking for a running engine, or one to rebuild? My brother has a ratty '53 half ton with a strong, rebuilt Stude V-8. I can't recall if it is a 259 or 289. I've driven it, and can vouch that it is a strong runner. If you want, I could go over and shoot some pictures of the truck and the engine compartment.
I'm pretty sure he'll only want to sell the whole truck, but most of the price is the engine itself. I'd be happy to help as much as I can.~Matt Connor
