Hello there Deep in Hock!
I appreciate the zip van pics, really! I may need to ask you for some contact info on those three that you sent me.
I really need to know what you think mine may be worth.
All original, rust free, 100% complete... I'm starting to think it's too historical to be customized.
Please, give me some clue as to what you think it's worth.
Thanks again for your help,
Dan Kaelin

That's cool right here in Phoenix. You happen to buy that down in Tucson. 2 just sold this past week out at Chuck Naugal place. 1 more left. I was not part of the sale so I'm not sure who purchased them. Art in California has been wanting some parts off of one of them. Way too busy conducting the sale to pull parts for anybody. The axles are unique to the zip Vans. They are narrower than truck axles. They are the same width as a Studebaker car. Sale happen this week end at Chuck the 4th and 5th. Thanks John Kroulik

How did it get to be a "65"? All Studebaker Zip Vans were originally 1963 models. Some have been titled as 1964s since they were assembled during the 1964 model year. I have never (before) heard of a 1965.Originally posted by mycatz2fat View PostI just brought home my 2nd 65 zip van. The first one is in the shop with a chevy v6 installed. If you want some tips on how to use the stock axle and upgrade the brakes to cheap chevy parts let me know.Gary L.

I thought the ZIP vans had a powertrain cradle, wouldn't that require lots more different suspension components?Originally posted by Skip Lackie View PostJust to add to Jeff's answers: Zip Vans were model 8E5FC, which means that most of the underpinnings were shared with 8E5 Champs. There obviously were a number of unique items to accommodate the forward control steering, but most of the other suspension components were the same as the 8E5 Champs.Ron Dame

Not really. Stude used what they had on hand. They did not want to outsource anything.
All the cradle does is hold the front end, engine, and trans.

I would like to know the Serial Numbers of the vans. That would help to solve the "65" question.Originally posted by mycatz2fat View PostI just brought home my 2nd 65 zip van.
