  • Lark Pace Car at the Museum

This story and video is on South Bend's ABC TV website. The 1962 Indy 500 pace car was at the museum this past weekend for a local SDC meeting.

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Father Felipe Campos of St. Adalbert and St. Casimir Catholic churches kept watch over the Vatican chimney alongside his students Tuesday morning, anticipating a historic moment.

That car is owned by a Michiana Chapter member, Stan (I can never remember his last name...). It's a semi fresh resto and it was at the May meet last year. Jim Maxey did a lot of work on that car and it is NICE. It's not the original pace car, but it's an exact clone and you won't see a better example.

Stan Harlozinski. I had the joy of polishing out a lot of the shiny stuff.

Is this the same car that Lee DeLabarre (sp) once owned?

No. This car was purchased in Arizona. The restoration was done in South Bend. Made it's first show last year at the May meet. It also paced the high speed lane on the old Studebaker test track. Jim

Did anyone photograph it for a Turning Wheels cover?
