Wagonaire tailgate window success!

Bob Kabchef (Roscomacaw) provided the motor. I cleaned and lubed the regulator and reassembled everything. My first few attempts at raising and lowering the window were not good. Lots of bind. It is a real 3D puzzle to align everything. It took me a few hours and several iterations...but success!

I was kind of surprised at the speed at which the window moves.

The motor is an American Bosch. Most of the others I have seen (including the original) have the FORD logo on them. Same form, fit and function. Odd that a Lincoln had a non FORD motor.

Not yet. I need to pull the slider to redo the seals. I plan to install the new top channel you provided then.

BTW, Kurt provided all new rear window runs and cat whiskers for this car. All but the top channel are in. All fit perfectly.

When I was doing that 66, I wanted something better than the old NOS seals that were still available. After some searching, I found a stock extrusion at Restoration Specialties and Supply outta Windbur, PA. Fit nice and sealed well. Also, I was gonna get a couple strips of that white-faced magnetic rubber sheet like they use for refridge door magnets and flop them over the roof seams for daily driving.

I contacted Restoration Specialties and Supply a few weeks ago. They reported that they didn't carry anything for a Wagonaire. Either they dropped that seal or I got the wrong guy.

I did order the NOS seals from SI. They are marginal. I'm not sure they should be selling something that may or may not actually work. We'll see.

That wagon is REALLY loking good. I can not believe how fast and smooth that window works.
After a whole lot of massaging and greasing and cleaning my 62 year old side windows roll up and down like butter now, cracked glass and all.
Good job though Mr. Steinkamp. {and as always Bob is awesome}

Years ago, TW's had an article about drain hoses for the slider. I can't recall much about it, but solved the leak issue and made mention of a readily availible seals. I'm sure some of the putor wizards here can pull the article up. I had a 63 Wagonaire at the time and filed it in the brain, that part has aged some since then. Nevertheless, it was a fix that worked. Late eighties- early ninties?

You misunderstood..... They (RSAS) had nothing FOR a Wagonaire. What they did have was a rubber extrusion that was JUST the right size and shape. I bought enough to do the 3 seals and mitre cut where they joined. It wasn't a perfectly rectangular cross-section - one side had a sort of raised lip to it.

I think you are correct. The exhaust pipe on a wagon comes out the right side just behind the rear wheel. This was probably their attempt to prevent the exhaust gas from coming in the window, but I doubt if it was very effective.
