A side note for those building a street rod - John is pouring these - by hand. And there are ways to do some custom things to these. You would need to inquire if he would do a special set.
For example - he can mix a small batch of red, and handpaint with colored RTV the red circle - and then, with a small batch of white, do the 'S' and the ring - then pour (fill) the mold with black RTV. The material will bond to itself. This would take time, and he might not want to do it - but for those customizers, it would make for an awesome mat....
Might even be able to get non-stock colors..... The purists are gonna 'cringe'

Gentlemen, as others have said above, I had hoped for years that someone would reproduce these floor mats. But many years ago when I suggested the idea to Ed R., he demurred, explaining that they could not be reproduced affordably. Not three years ago, however, Mr. McCall stopped by my table at York and inquired whether I would let him have the pair of NOS front mats I had for sale, because he wished to reproduce them and needed a pattern. Frankly, I did not think I would ever see this dream fulfilled. But lo and behold, there they were at York, and yes, I purchased a black set of his mats for the front of my '64 convertible. (I already own an NOS rear black mat.) In talking to some anonymous folks at York, I gleaned that Mr. McCall is an excellent craftsman but a less-than-excellent businessman. Thus, it surprises me not a whit that he never returned your emails. At York when I handed him the $175 cash for my set, he took the money off-handedly, never thanked me, never even looked at me. I say this not to complain, but merely to illustrate the sort of fellow he appears to be: serious about craftsmanship, indifferent to salesmanship. As for the material he uses, compared to the original vinyl or rubber it is stickier and shinier, which in one way is good because his repros lack the small gripping nibs that appear on the originals. F.y.i, I also heard that Ed might soon be offering his own version; at what price I cannot say. Stay tuned!

I've been trying to call him all week, and his voice mailbox is still full, and I get disconnected before I can leave a number. (3/30).Bez Auto Alchemy

Looking at the photio in post #13 of Matt's car, I was wondering is that a narrow cut out on the right side of the driver's mat? If so, what's it for?
And does he have a special pattern for Avantis...or do the Lark sets work well?63 Avanti R1 2788
