Well, first it has to get here, Jim! <GGG>
'Good to hear they remedied that oversight from the December issue.
EDIT Tuesday, January 3: The mail just arrived for the first time this year and, indeed, the February 2012 Hemmings Muscle Machines was among the items received.
This 6-page supplemental report (to the December material) is indeed good and favorable to Studebakers; to be encouraged.
A nice photo of Steve Doerschlag's Moonlight Silver R3 Challenger is captioned with the words, "A cadre of Studebaker guys come to The Pure Stock Drags, and they tend to win...." 'Gotta love that.
Posted is a list of the top 26 fastest cars, in order, which includes both The Plain Brown Wrapper R3 Challenger and The Stude Tomato R2 Lark Custom. They answer the logical question, "Why 26?" with this explanation:
"We wanted to get a Studebaker in there--a strong contingent of them turn out every year, and they're surprisingly quick."
While that is appreciated, it doesn't make sense. That's because about halfway up the list, in Position #14, already appeared George Krem's 1964 Studebaker Challenger R3, The Plain Brown Wrapper! It was the 14th fastest of the 140+ cars there. So they already had a Studebaker included long before they got to Position #26.
Oh, well, let's not be picky: It would appear that some questions are best left unasked.
Anyway, good Studebaker coverage, as jallen said. BP

OK, if you'll look carefully at all the photos in this article, you'll see the following 2011 Pure Stock Muscle Car Drag Race Studebaker participants somewhere:
1. Steve Doesrchlag's Moonlight Silver 1964 R3 Challenger 2-door.
2. Chuck Kern's Avanti White 1963 R2 Avanti.
3. Steve Doerschlag's Horizon Green 1964 R1 Commander 2-door...twice (it's in two pictures; one with Steve in it!).
4. Allen Anderson's Midnight Black 1964 R2 Super Hawk.
Neither The Plain Brown Wrapper nor The Stude Tomato appear in any photos, but they are listed among the Top 26 entrants as to speed, as reported above.
Good coverage; I'm glad we got it. BP

There were some non-domestics in the spectator parking lot, but so few in the pits it was hard to miss the "Hemmings Honda," or whatever it was.
Oh, well. BP
