  • Super Hawk & Super Lark Options

The documentation I have indicates that the Super Hawk and Super Lark option packages were offered at different times and included differing equipment. Can anyone shed some light on this? Thanks, Dan

They were introduced at the same time and the only differences were related to the different body styles. i.e. carpets were included on the Lark, but were standard on the Hawks already, no bench seat option on the Hawk, no clock with the tach on Larks and so on.

The Fender Badges get chrome rings around them, 64's are the neatest badges, 63's are a different type small chrome rectangles.
These were used on both Avanti Powered Lark Types, GT Hawks AND SUPER Lark Types & GT Hawks with R2 Power.
There were also R1 Fender Badges that say "Avanti Powered" and look the same, and R3, R4 Badges in Black/White/Gray.

ID:	1671377 This is the side view of a Lark Type Emblem.

A '64 SUPER Lark/Hawk Grille Badge, they are not the same part number due to the different grille mesh they have to fit, but they both look like this with the White "S" for '64's.

Some Avanti Powered Cars may have gotten the Super Grille Badges.

Let me be more specific. My info says that the "Super Lark" package was available in mid '64 , and that you had to have either an R/1 or an R/2 engine package to be able to order it. The package was comprised of the following: 4-speed or H/D 3 speed automatic, rear stabilizer bar, TT, and front disc brakes. It listed for $766.70. It says nothing of trim or decorative or interior finish items. It says nothing of R/3 or R/4 engine options. The "Super Hawk" supposedly was available earlier, like mid-'63. Like the Lark, the car had to be equipped with either an R/1 or R/2 (no mention of R/3 or R/4). The package consisted of the following: front and rear anti-sway bars, rear radius rods (I assume like traction masters), H/D springs, and front disc brakes. Oddly enough, it doesn'r refer to TT, or transmissions or, like the Lark, no decorative items. Don't have a price on this one. So, I'm confused. Dan

The Cars did not "have to be equipped with an R1 or R2". The Engines came in the Package, and it upgraded the car from the standard 259 V-8 Engine Price (except Cruiser/Hawk that had 289 Std.) to the R1 or R2 Package price. Available in April 1963, that is 9 months or more into the model year, almost the END of '63 model run.

Avanti Powered Cars without the package, were available from the start of '63 models, Sept. '62.

                There were no 1963 R3 or R4's.
