  • what the heck

I have owned my 57 parkview wagon for 3 years. In that time the overdrive has never worked. I have gone down through the trouble shooting list and pretty much determined it was something internally. 3 weeks ago I decide to drive the wagon to lunch. As I am driving along about 45 mph I let off of the gas a bit and I felt it go into overdrive. It was great, I was driving along at about 60 mph smiling from ear to ear. I have since driven the wagon a few times and it has worked flawlessly every time. Dont know what changed but hope it stays like it is.

    Cool beans, Duane.

As you know from checking it out, there are so many electrical connections in the overdrive circuit that an open in many of them, by itself at one juntion, can render it inoperable. Chances are excellent one of them decided to make contact for reasons known only to the electrical gods.

And if it ever again quits working, by contrast, you'll know it probably has something to do with an electrical connection, as they usually do.

It is a great feeling, having it work, isn't it? BP

Nah, you drove through a puddle of AmsOil gear lube, and a couple of drops splashed up in there. That's all it takes.
Spill a barrel of AmsOil in a junkyard, and by morning all the transmissions and rear ends will be up at the office waiting to be let out.
