      Thanks again for the replies!
I haven't found the right one yet so I thought I'd put it out there one more time before the end of the year.
Please contact me if you're thinking of selling, I'm trying to buy one this month!

Anyone have info on car R4911? They say it's an R2 but has an R1 motor?

              Thanks!

This could be a very interesting Avanti. I checked out the one advertised for sale in our Local Chapter Newsletter "Studebaker Times Post" (STP) for Supercharged (Dan).

The owner was told it was an R2 by the 2nd. owner and it came with the Paxton and some R2 parts which are now gone. It has a R1 Engine currently: R5317. it is Serial number R4911 a '64 with round headlight bezels and is a 4 Speed Car. It is Turquoise Green Inside and out and is Body RQ3536. There is no evidence of R2 Fender Badges.

I suspect it could be one of the Cars that had the body quality issue that were built as a '63 pre-R4892 model, and then put aside to later be corrected and finished after the line passed the changeover at R4892, hence the long Battery, round lights new late Serial #4911 and most '64 trim especially Interior.

                1. Does anyone know from Factory Info if R4911 was one of them?
                2. Does anyone know if R4911 was built as an R2?

This is a very nice Car with no rust and perfect, solid Torque Boxes with good undercoating. The Car has New Paint, fresh Tires and "a fresh Studebaker Pro-built Engine with less than 500 miles" per the Club Member owner.
                It has Power Steering.

I thought that someone had a list showing R1 vs R2, like the ones out there for Jet Thrust cars.

I am sure the Production Order would be interesting, but the owner is not interested in one, and I am just the messenger, not interested in another Avanti.

When the square headlight bezels began at R4892, Studebaker also listed the round headlight version as an option until those parts ran out. I've not seen documentation of a car actually having the round headlight openings after R4892 it's certainly possible. Maybe this car could be one? Only a copy of the build sheet could prove or disprove that. It could also have been damaged at some point and converted to true '63 style but that seems a stretch.
