  • Broke out the whole stable, probably for the last time this year

We were hosting the Potomac Chapter 2012 Activities Planning Meeting at our house Saturday. Since it was a beautiful day I decided to get out the whole fleet and park them in front. Many of the members had never seen the '53 or the '64 Wagonaire.
Getting out the '53 disclosed still another issue that I need to deal with over the winter. I let it get completely warmed up then drove it up from the barn. As I did a cloud of steam rolled out from under the seat. Now, not only do I need to address a grabby front brake, a leaky tranny, seeping freeze plug and a balky choke, I guess I'll be looking for a heater core.
After I took the pictures I put them all to bed for the winter.

I really like the green on the 53. I bet that would hide a lot of aw-shoots. A dark color you can all the aw-shoots.

My grandson spent the night with us last night. This morning, he wanted me to pull the Studes out of the man cave. I did take three of them out and had a similar scene to yours. I had the 48 business coupe, 55 truck, and 51 Land Cruiser on the lawn but didn't take pics.

I took Luke home in the Land Cruiser and then drove it to Sears to pick up a couple of plastic saw horses they had on sale. On the way home, I realized that the Land Cruiser's odometer finally turned over 60, 000 miles.

At least in the part of the south I live in, I can drive mine year 'round. However, I avoid driving them when it rains and wouldn't dare attempt to pull one out when it snows.

Thanks for sharing. Love the wheels on the Wagonaire...Magnum 500's? Mother Nature let me have two more unexpected days of Stude drives this year, which was really cool because today marks 51 years that I've been having rides in it since I came home from the hospital in it the day after I was born. Weather Man says next weekend real winter weather will be here with highs of -11C on Sat. Cheers, Junior

I hear you on the "cars to bed" syndrome, Paul. 'Finished the last of the seven Thursday, having winterized four on Wednesday and the remaining three on Thursday.

'Woke up Friday morning to a good dusting of snow on the ground! That was close enough! BP

You're right. I have plenty of aw-shoots on it. The color is Chippewa Green, original color.

We woke up to a good dusting of "DUST" the other day but other than that we'll keep right on driving them all winter down here in the desert.

That could depend on the size of the pond you are floating in!

I had run the Magnum 500s on the '64 Daytona convertible I sold to buy the Avanti and loved the looks on it. I wanted to use them on the Avanti, but it has Turner brakes and the wheels wouldn't clear the calipers (I know, you can grind down the calipers, but not me). I wanted to get rid of the 16" Torque Thrusts on the Avanti and I had 15x6 wheels on the Wagonaire. So, I put the 15x6s on the Avanti and decided to see how the Magnums looked on the Wagonaire. I liked them too and they solved a long time problem I've had with the wagon- popping off wheel covers (even the 15x6s). To tell you the truth, I like the Magnums better on the Daytonas than on an Avanti.
