Studebaker curb weights

Where does one go to find the curb weight of Studebakers? I looked in the service manual...not there, consulted the owner's manual...says to consult the dealer. Did a forum search and my car is not in there, but there is discussion about how some member's thought the factory specs were not accurate...but where does one find the factory weights?? I found some weights for 53 hardtops, but nothing for coupes, and nothing about the difference between Champions and Commanders. I had the opportunity to weigh my car yesterday, and was just wondering if it porked-up compared to a 54 Commander coupe. My car is 54 Champion, but being modified with the SBC, T5 trans, gm rearend, turner brakes etc, etc I was just wondering how it compared to factory weights. BTW, it scaled in at 3373 lbs. which surprised me, as I thought it would be heavier. Thanks Junior.

Many here can probably give you weights from Studebaker manuals. I think that they are also in the Fred K. Fox feature articles in Turning Wheels.
I will give some weights for relevant vehicles (from neither of these sources):

Individual brochures for specific model years usually have a shipping weight listed for a given model, although it is rarely very accurate.

If you live anywhere near a truck stop, just pay them a couple dollars and get a certified weight. Be sure to account for how much gasoline you have in the tank if you plan to use that figure for some purpose in the future where you want it to be accurate. BP

I do not know how accurate they may be but the 57 brochure has the curb weight of all the models. Other brochures may also include the curb weight.

Registration and licensing data in the form of a service letter was supplied for new models every year, with copies sent to every state. Shipping weights were among the supplied info, and they were just what Gary L. reported. The letter also gave figures on additional weight of some of the common options (Overdrive, Automatic, Climatizer, Radio) and suggests adding 135 lbs. for road weight to the Champions and 161lbs. to the Commanders. Even so, many owners that have had a car weighed always say it weighed about an additional 200 lbs over all that.

My 53 K weighs 3,445 lbs. With a 1/2 tank of gas. If you drive them they pick up a little weight, stuff in the trunk for trips. Cup holders, etc.

Thanks for all the replies. In my owner's manual there was a place for the dealership to write the weight of the car, but it was never written in. If the weights were in the factory shop manual where I find them...because I must have been looking in the wrong place. To weigh my car I used a self-serve scale that is meant for truckers that's on the side of the highway just south of town. It must be fairly accurate because when I drove the car on the scale it registered 1630 kilograms, and when I got out of the car it registered 1530 kilograms, and when I jumped back in the car it registered 1630 kilograms. My actual weight is 99.5 kilograms, so it weighed me within 1% of my actual weight on two occasions...I was actually impressed (not by my fatness, but by the accuracy of the scale). Regardless, it looks like my factory light-weight Champion has turned into a somewhat over-weight Commander. Thanks again for the responses...Junior.
