  • studebakers and children

I was asked to bring my hawk to a pre-school for children to see, I did. I asked each child to say studebake to gain entry into the car soon it was filled with 2 -3 year olds shouting STUDEBAKER STUDEBAKER HAWK music to my ears it was a lot of fun.

When our oldest grandson was about that age he took great delight in saying "Studebaker" as often as he could work it in to the conversation (and he hasn't stopped talking since).

I married a second wife and began a second life kinda late, and have 9, 11, and 13 year olds. They have grown up in the back seats of Studes, as did my now 31 year old son from the first wife. They know more about Studes than most adults, and have been taught that all other cars are simply "brand x".

Dick, up here in the frozen north my parents carried blankets in their Studes ...just in case. Way back when I too carried bankets in my '57 Silver Hawk ...all year around ...they can make a big difference ...just in case!!!!

Most of the Studebaker people that know me know my grandson Clayton he is now 16 and getting his license soon so then all heck will break out maybe, but any way he has been into Studebakers all his life and has been to more national meets than a lot of grown up in the club, he became a member of his own when he was 6 not a student member or a member under my but his own full adult membership, now he is talking about he wants the 63 lark R-1 clone standard, the 64 GT super hawk, the 63 custom, and the 67 Avanti also the 52 commander 4 door just for cruising in with friends, he does like the big back seat and the suicide doors,

I love to see children get excited about Studebakers. My Granddaughter is 5 and she tell's me she wants a Studebaker "when she gets 16 old".
