  • 57 silver hawk sells for $19,500 in toronto

For those of you who follow the auctions, a 1957 Silver Hawk sold for $19,500 at the Toronto Fall Collector Car Auction this afternoon. The car was a very good restoration, painted in black with silver fins, with everything looking good, except....its replacement interior was not close to the original; the engine paint color was incorrect; the wheel discs were from a later model. It was not a car familiar to Ontario members and we suspect it may have come from Quebec. In any event, it will likely be a good driver for the purchaser, even though it's not going to win any first place awards. It has automatic transmission and the trunk lid indicated twin traction, although the auction sale sheet bore no reference to TT. Unfortunately, the auction company, along with the auctioneer, referred to it as a President model.

Well, Stu, technically a 1957 Silver Hawk is a 1957 President, in that the C3 body is denoted as one body style available within Model 57H, which is/are all 1957 Presidents! Perhaps they got ahold of some strict licensing and registration documents that referred to it as a 57H, which it is, and then crossed that to 1957 Studebaker President, which is also a correct crossover.

Yes, I agree, the body descriptor 57H-C3 for a 1957 Silver Hawk doesn't seem to make a whole lot of sense, but that's what Studebaker said it was.

(I do see your point, though; 'not trying to be argumentative.) BP

Thanks Bob for the President info. I just learned something.

That $19,500.00 did not include the 10% buyers fee so the purchaser actually paid for more than $21,000 for the car. It did look like a nice driver but as Stu says in its current "mode", will not be a first place winner.
        I personally liked the car.
