Avanti Gas Tank Vent

Can anyone tell me where the vent line from the gas tank actually terminates and what should it look like?

The vent is on top of the tank, and connects to a length of steel line with a short piece of rubber hose (like a fuel filter section) with spring steel clamps.
The steel line travels the length of the tank towards the passenger 1/4 panel where it connects to another rubber hose. That hose loops upward into the 1/4 panel and then back down where it travels in front of the tank on the passenger side and exits through the floor.
It protrudes about 2" and terminates above the rear axle.

The rubber hose that extend upwards in the quarter panel is put in place prior to cementing the inner and outer quarter panels together, no way can you replace it with out cutting the inner panel to gain access to the clips holding it in place.

Why does it kick up into the Q panel? Why can't a new hose just be attached and dropped to a hole in the floor to the street?

I have installed a ball check valve for greater safety in the past on the vent hose for roll over.

I was able to arc a new hose in that panel on two different Avanti, just requires patience and a wire hook.
No cutting of panel.

I replaced this vent hose on my car when I renewed the gas tank. That was years ago, but as I recall getting the hose tube up into the sail panel was difficult, but not impossible. Might have scuffed up hands when you are finished, but doable.
