I think it would be more than $3K. I bought a seatcover kit from some guy in Maryland, plus carpet and neither were "cheap", but when you add a correct steering wheel and labor...$3k might be tight.
And please note I didn't say the interior wasn't nice, just not stock.

My Avanti covers are now $600 set, carpets are $350, vinyl to do the door panels, maybe $100, the wheels and steering wheel should offset some of the cost of the wheel, gauges and column. Yep, I think I could do it for 3K, but I've under estimated Avanti costs before.

I bid on it without waiting for all of the pictures. Shipping adds a lot for me. I would have paid more if it was a couple of weeks ago so that I could have brought it to Gettysburg.

Where is the battery? Is the brake booster stock? It looks different from the reverse angle.

I would never do it without some trusted eyes or REALLY good pictures underneath. Seller says nothing about hog troughs.

Last year when I was looking for an Avanti I was hot after a 'rust-free' one on eBay. I almost bought it, but asked the seller for good pictures of the troughs. He didn't know the term, but finally sent me honest pictures that showed really tired troughs. I asked him to smack one with a hammer, which he did, and was shocked that it went through! I felt sure that he honestly did not know. The listing was pulled and I never heard of it again; I think it was in Idaho or something. I jumped on JDP's mostly because I knew he knew how to look at the troughs.

This does look like a very nice car, and odds are strong that this one is as nice underneath as on top. I'm just saying, for $14K I'd want to know for sure. Still probably worth it if it did need troughs/rear crossmember, but that additional $5K or so (if needed) has to be factored in.

Did he drop the BIN? I thought it was $14,500, or something like that. Now it's $13,999.

I'm with the guys who have commented they like the interior the way it has been done - me too. The only thing that would put me off is the black exterior colour - I've had one black vehicle and that was enough - it always looked dirty even 5 minutes after I washed and polished it. I'll take a lighter colour anytime!

Looks like a great deal for the money in my assessment.

A while back a black Avanti was for sale over on the coast and I recall it might have been in either Bandon or Coos Bay on one of those small sales lots. I heard about it through the Stude grapevine and later saw an add in one of those little nickle papers. I'm thinking it was this car because it has Oregon special plates and there just aren't that many black Avantis for sale around the NW. During normal summers it gets pretty hot here in Roseburg and any black car is a roaster, so that spooked me from investigating it then. That and we've got too many old cars now.

The hog troughs and frame look great in the one picture of them.

The BIN is indeed lower. When I first saw this ad (the day it listed) it was $14,500.

I like the interior and agree on the black part. Every time I buy a new black car, I say "never again" (but they look so nice). I remember cleaning the exterior of my black Avanti at an SDC International Meet three times in the morning before judging (First Place). I probably would have done more cleaning except I was judging in another Division.

I like a black as you can tell by my Avanti,my interior color is not original color kind of a yellow, brown, gold mix.doop panels
are blackon top,the other colors in middle&black rug on bottom. The original color of the car was gold.It has a black carpet.
I think the Avanti in the add is well worth the money reguardless of the interior.

It's a fantastic looking Retro-Mod Avanti and I love it .... and your estimate of costing twice to do a complete frame-off Resto-mod may be a bit off (twice is TOO LOW an estimate)

But what do I know about Avanti Resto-Mods ..... LOL
