  • FOM shift levers...How were they made??

FOM shift levers on the transmission itself, the the 1541011 and the 1543775 for every FOM and the Powershift... I figure that the section of the part that was physically in the transmission was turned steel but the lever part of the part. Was it plate that was a press fit on the turned shaft, was it welded to the shaft or ????

    Wondering for project...

Boy, Jeff, you asked this question at precisely the wrong time! Less than an hour ago, I had the pan off a Flightomatic to check on it's condition. A fellow wanted a used one for a project, so I grabbed an random parts transmission, and we had the pan off to check it. No sludge, just a thin film of black dust in the remaining oil, which is perfectly normal. But I could have looked then.

The outside levers I think are furnace-brazed onto the shafts, and the inner components attached by nuts on threaded ends of the shafts.
