    If you open the hood to check the body tag, pull the hood out twoard you as you lift. The corners by the hinges are prone to kinking, and I'm sure the hinges haven't seen oil in a long time. Go slow, and good luck!
    Oops! another look at the picture says too late! Anyway pulling foreward as you lift will help to keep from making it worse.

      Haha! Good eye! Yeah, it appears the right corner has already been damaged.

      The overall completeness of the car is what attracts me to it. Pending fatal rust damage to the frame or elsewhere, I wouldn't mind getting it in decent running shape and driving it as-is, patina and all. Well, at least until I get bodywork and paint done...

      Of course I'm putting the cart before the horse. It's not mine yet!

        Well, I went and checked out the car today. Per the VIN, it is definately a '59 V8 (59V in the 2000 range). The bad news is that, as is often the case, the car is rougher than it appears in the pic. Most of the left side belt-line trim is missing and there are a few rust holes here and there. The "valleys" between the fins and trunk lid appear to have once had accumulated leaves and debris and are scaly, though not rusted through. Both corners of the hood are damaged from it being improperly raised. The glass is all good except for the right side quarter window which has a small "star burst" (victim of a BB gun?). The interior is pretty much trashed but appears to be mostly complete. Unless it was repainted long ago, the original color appears to have been red judging from the protected areas. What's odd is that there is no badging at all on the fins and they show no signs of any ever being there. How were the badges/script attached?

        All in all the car is rougher than I'd hoped, but could still potentially be saved I think. Whether I'm the one who'll do it remains to be seen. It would be a long term project for me but I might still be interested if I can get it for a good price.

          Well, the car sold for $425. Probably a reasonable price, all things considered, but I ultimately decided I would not be able to do it justice. As I said, it was much rougher than it appeared in the pic. Such a shame because it was probably a nice car when it was parked. Oh well...
