    Not uncommon, Cash.
People find a paper element air filter that will replace the oil sump below the main filter housing. Properly done, it works fine but, as you say, looks "kinda funny." BP

I could live with some of the non-stock items, but not that two-tone job. If I add transportation, a repaint and whatever it needs from sitting, it is way too expensive for me.

It was the last (and second) year that the name was simply Hawk.

I think when most people think of Studebaker Hawks they think of the FINNED Hawks..and 1961 is the last of the finned hawks. So either the person selling the car is misinformed, or he forgot to add "finned".
Before I bought mine I didn't know the difference between a Golden, Silver, Flight ,Power, Sky or GT hawk and had no clue about the Packard Hawk.

When I got the production order from the SNM for my Hamilton Ontario built 1960 V8 Hawk, it DID say Silver Hawk on it <g> As that old commercial said "Only in Canada, you say? Pity."

Of course it could have been, and likely was, a mistake by the SNM and yes, it did not have "Silver" script on it, but there were some differences between Hamilton and South Bend production, and likely not only in parts and model availability but internal documentation. If I recall correctly, Studebaker never put "Regal" on any post-war car, and only had the "Deluxe" script on certain pickups. As well, Hamilton sold K body Hawk sixes in 57-8, and also the Champion "Regal" W6 in 56-7. Both models are unknown in the US.
