Great photo Richard, I don't suppose you have any additional angles? Studying the picture makes you wonder how exciting it was to be part of the creative team. You can see how the artist's concepts lose out to the realities of production and budget constraints when the "real thing" develops into its final form. Building a front bumper with grilles that complex would have been much more costly than anything that actually made it into production. Although the main grille in this rendition could have been a simple stamping if they used the thin material used in the '64 and later grilles. (But we know that was not the norm for the 40's.)

Just don't look beyond the leading edge of the hood!! With a little squint, yes, there is a semblence of a '53 mayflower! Thanks for sharing your observation.

Actually, the model in the background to the right looks even more interesting. It has a flatter hood and fenderline in front. The "car" behind the model seems to be the full size version. Note the fender lip and wheel opening - fairly modern.

Also note the precursors to the 53 and 54 grille bars.

Actually you have that backward as the Plymouth would have a Studebaker flavor in it.
