C'mon guys, no one remembers the Rocky and Bullwinkle show from 1959-61 and "Fractured Fairy Tales?" And give me a little credit, I thought I did an excellent Photoshop job! What more do you want?? Like all CASOs you get something for nothing and you still find fault. Next time I plan on posting a really neat original photo of John M. Studebaker posing with his new R3 Avanti and I'm sure some "Doubting Thomas" will try to tell me it is not authentic.

I, for one, like it. I have a feeling that a trailblazer like Rockne himself would have gotten a kick out of it. In fact, he adapted to air travel better than some of us today. Besides, who is to say that visionaries like him are not still out there flitting about in other dimensions of time?

Hurry up with your next creation Richard, I am eagerly waiting.

PLANE CRASH INFORMATION
Investigations of the wreckage revealed that moisture within the wooden wing structure had degraded glued joints, the main cause of the wing's instability and ultimate failure. According to a 2001 article in the British Aeroplane Magazine, a TWA mechanic had found deteriorating wing panels when inspecting the aircraft shortly before the fateful flight. Supervisors reportedly overruled his objections and sent the plane back to the flight line.

I know little on Knute Rockne aside from he was a Notre Dame coach, successor to George Gipper, and being mentioned when they had to dig up George Gipper in an unacknowledged heirs case a couple of years ago to retrieve a DNA sample. Therefore, until I saw the Photoshop comment, I would say that, that was a very seamless photograph of him standing next to a car he never saw. IE, to the unwavering eye and the general public, it looks legit.

I have the original contract signed between Knute Rockne & the Corporation (signed by Paul Hoffman) dated 19th March 1931 in which Knute agreed to conditions as "Manager of Sales Promotion" at $10,000 per year. This was just 12 days before the fatal crash. Also framed with this contract is the original contract signed by Bonnie Rockne with the Corporation's signing by Albert Erskine & Paul Hoffman for Bonnie to receive .25 cents per Rockne badged cars made by Studebaker up to $10,000 per year.

That contract was signed on 28th May 1931. The five original quarterly statements that I have from Dec 1st 1931 to March 20th 1933 show sales of 27516 Rocknes which equates to around $6880. Notice of cancellation of this ageement occured on the 16th May 1933.

It is very important that you state that this picture is a fake.
100 years from now someone will claim that they had an authentic picture of Knute standing next to the Rockne.
