I've actually had good luck buying cars 'in town'. It's hard for a dealer to play hard ball when he has over 100 of the same car sitting on his lot (and floor plan) while he's paying on the insurance. Too many dealers in a given area let you play one against another. Free enterprise, what a system!

This may surprise you, but it's very advantageous to have several dealershios located side by side! The more cars you have close together, the more people will think of- and drive to- your area to look! Yeah, there's competition; but studies have proven that that's outweighed by the increase of overall traffic... and the competition's good for the consumer also... good deal all around!

Years ago I worked for a guy who owned a camera shop......a place where you could buy cameras, film, lenses and have your film developed and printed. It was a husband and wife team. They had a "curbside warranty", once you stepped off the curb, the camera was out of warranty, and he also offered his famous "Masonic Discount", list plus 10%. It was an interesting experience. If he did not get lucky with the wife th night before, he would come in miserable, if did get lucky, she came in miserble.
