AACA Museum features 64 GT R-1 Hawk

The AACA Museum in Hershey, PA is featuring a 64 GT Hawk in their newsletter called the Rumble Seat. The Hawk was donated to the museum by Dale Shaffer.

It looks like a nice car, but they need to ditch the front license plate and wheel covers IMHO.

The license plate displayed on the front of that Hawk appears to be a period 1963 Indiana plate: 93c9102. The 93 prefix indicates the car was registered in Marion County IN, which is essentially Indianapolis.

Does anyone know more about this car? They don't give that Hawk's Serial Number, so I can't check to see if it was delivered new at one of the three Studebaker dealers in business in Indianapolis at the time. BP

The last time I visited the AACA museum, there was a beautiful blue '52 Commander convertible downstairs just outside the little diner and next to the bus exhibit.

Hey, those are the rare wire wheel covers that actually were an accessory. They look OK on GT Hawks, IMO.
I think JP had them on his Survivor Avanti, and they didn't look quite 'right'.

The wire wheel covers may be a matter of personal preference, but I don't think that anyone in their right mind could say they LIKE that license plate in front of not only the left side grille, but the parking and turn signal! [:0] On a beautiful car like that it is just unacceptable! I'll bet the museum thought they were making the law happy by adding it, but if they knew how to properly mount it on the bracket in the bumper center, it may not be real pretty but certainly beats what they got! [xx(]

Anybody in PA wanna go over there and give em a $40.00 new 1544815 bracket or a $10.00 used one?

OK, if thats a Indiana plate on the front, it just needs to be GONE! The car is in PA, so it does not need to be there! A '63 plate does not do anything for a museum car if it's in front of the grille!
