  • 1957 Station Wagon FS / Abilene TX

Richard Lentinello, General Editor of Hemmings, today forwarded this information he received from a reader. Neither Richard nor I know any more than you do as soon as you read this!

    Richard:

Greetings from Central Texas. The following ad has been in the Abilene Reporter News for the last several days:

1957 Studebaker Station Wagon 1 out of 300 made, all original, project car, $3000 OBO
1968 Ford Ranchero 390GT all original project car, $4500 OBO or both $6500 325-320-9140

I felt that I should tell someone.
Now that I done so, I can go take my nap.
If the local "Billy Bobs or Bubbas" turn these into dune buggies, my conscience is clear.

    Sincerely, Bob Wagner, Cisco Texas

I have no idea where the advertiser (not Mr. Wagner) got the information "300 made," but I suspect it involves a bodily orifice. <GGG!> It's not even close to any actual 1957 Studebaker station wagon production figures.

Here are the production figures for all 1957 Studebaker station wagons, including rare fleet and police units:

    1957 Scotsman: 3,400

    1957 Champion Custom (fleet): 25

    1957 Champion DeLuxe (fleet): 1

    1957 Champion Pelham: 1,120

    1957 Commander Parkview: 738

    1957 Commander Provincial: 3,995

    1957 President Custom (fleet/police): 6

    1957 President DeLuxe (fleet/police): 8

    1957 President Broadmoor: 1,530

With no offense to anyone, I liked the reference to 'Billy Bobs/Bubbas!' My cousin, a doctor, was in PA with his brother in law. They stopped at a flea market type of retailer and were looking around. A lady asked if they could be helped, my cousin Dr. Jokester replied: "Oh that is ok, Bubba said that we could look around!" The lady replied: "Oh, you know the owner-Bubba, be my guest!"
