Back in the late fifty's I lived in Colorado Springs, Co. I had a small apartment close to the Broadmoor Hotel. They had maybe 10 Red & White Studebaker Broadmoor Station wagons to transport hotel guest. Fast forward to 2005 we were at Studebaker meet on the south side of Kansas City, Mo. This couple pulled in with a Red & White Broadmoor wagon. I mean just like going back into the past. As soon as they parked I went over and told them I bet you bought that wagon in Colorado Springs, Co. They said we sure did and how did you know that. I then told them this story. As far as I can remember that's the only place I had ever seen a red & white Broadmoor.

Very coool story Carl. An SDC member from 'near here' had one in those colors too- he used to use it for totin' Stude parts all over the NorthWest. How 'bout it Don K. wanna share some stories of your ride? (I've got a picture of his around here somewhere...)

Don sold that car many years ago to a guy who restored it. Don was ahead of his time since he liked the wagons long before they were being collected. He was always frugal I think that one of the reasons he like them so much was there usability as a parts hauler. That BM might still be in the PNW-I used to know where it lived, but that was some time ago and I'm getting old!

Please post all the pics you can of 57-58 4 door wagons.
A chapter member had a '57 Broadmoor in red/white a couple of years ago. Unrestored original car, but it needed going through. I remember drooling over the thing several times when at his house, I believe it had almost every single option on it. A/C, power steering and brakes, power seats and windows, etc. "StudeMichael" bought it and started restoring it, and still owns it as far as I know.

Hey Dave, I have fond memories of that 1957 Broadmoor Wagon. I did use it for hauling parts and driving on tours. It was a nice driving car with plenty of power. It deserved to be restored as tin worms were starting to get to it, so I sold it to a guy who said he was going to take care of it and do a restoration. Wish I knew whatever happened to it. Bill Hallett has my old 1955 Conestoga, so I know it is in good hands.

Long range planning:
As the owner of a Broadmoor, I'm looking forward to the National in Colorado Spring in '13.
Would love to have a group picture of 10 or more of these wagons on the grounds of the
hotel. Any early takers? Bert Coolidge
