  • FYI used parts resource (wrecking yard) Fresno, Ca

A couple years ago I had occasion to visit Turners Auto Wrecking in Fresno Ca. and the place made a lasting impression on me.
Reading some of the 'wanted' posts today got me thinking and I gave Jerry a call.

He does have a complete (minus the starter) 289 with 67K on it out of a 56 or 7 Pres as well as the car itself gauges interior... what ever
He said he still had a 61 2d hard top Lark with a 289 in it, as well as a 58? with the Packard front end.

Not sure if he'll sell the Lark whole but the others I know he will only part out.

Just thought I'd place another possible resource for obsolete parts searchers to look.

Not sure how much of Turners is left.
First the son, that he was passing the yard down to, died.
Then they had a fire that burned down the office building and all the records and treasures in it.
I know they didn't crush everything. (Place is huge). But they aren't open every day and when the old man (who isn't young) goes, I think that will be the end of it.
Get it while you can. It won't be much longer before wonderful Turners goes the way of Romo's and the rest of the classic Fresno yards.

Actuall I think it was the motor barn that burned and Jerry said they crushed about 4K cars last year for some cash so its not the same as when I first saw it just a few years ago.... Still if you have an old car Jerry is amazing with the knowledge he holds and at least he saved the studes he has for people like us.

Sadly I drive by Romo's twice a day, always thinking about what was lost. This year Mose Moradian, the owner of Globe Auto Parts died. Don't want to think about what will happen to his yard full of '30s cars and parts.

Then there's Pearson's up on Hwy. 49 near Mariposa. What a great place! 'Ol A.G. died a few years ago when his vehicle ran off the road. I used to wander his yard for hours in the '80s. A '48 Champion convertble sat at the entrance. Still did last time I drove that way. Rusting away. "Not for sale." A.G. always said. Someone owed him a Mark II in trade for it, or something.

Turner's has a (somewhat primitive) website. Seems to be tied to a interchange database. http://turnersautowrecking.com/
