60 Convertible Arm Rests??

Hi all,

Are the bottoms of the arm rests in a 60 convert painted or chrome plated plastic. Can't tell on our car what they originally were. They appear to be painted over chrome.

I am also looking for a good pair as ours are broken.

They were Regal interiors in all '60 convertibles, so they should be the plastic chrome bases for the armrests.

They are plastic, but the ones in my '60 convertible are more of a silver grey than chrome.

Should be chrome over bare plastic.
There are shops that specialize in that.

Many people have painted them with chrome paint, or some other color in an effort to reproduce the original color. It never looks like the real plastic chrome. The '61 tail light lenses have the same process on their surface. The chrome base style armrests come up on ebay often. They always draw more money than the DeLuxes. Take the two screws out of the arm rest base and replace with your interior color arm rest, or dye it. I haven't priced vendors who offer the plastic chrome process to know what an armrest base would cost to re-do. Unless you're lying on the floor, they are pretty hard to see and appreciate unless you look closely. Regal arm rests are correct for your car, though.

Thanks for the replies. We are just finishing up on redoing the interior and have found that both sides were not only painted over the chrome but also broken/cracked. If anyone has a pair or either side please let me know.

I have a pair. What color is your interior? I see that plain ones are being sold on ebay for high prices right now. I'll sell you these cheap.

Are they the chrome bottom ones and do they have any cracks? The color doesn't matter as we just had the top pads recovered. Send me a PM with the info and price.
