  • Too Good To Be True?

Or do I just think a '63 Avanti is worth more than "the market" does?

Supercharged with high compression heads? Is that a good combination?

Ask forum member edpjr about his thoughts. It looks like a very good price for a quite nice car.

Nice Car and OK price. She has lots of other errors in the Ad text like R1 & R2 were Supercharged, and R1-R4 in '63?
So I think the "High Compression Heads" comment is just a misunderstanding, as an R2 Does have relatively high compression compared to Std. 289, but it is accomplished by the Pistons, not the Low Compression Heads. That is if it is stock, and we have no reason to believe it is not, with 43,000 original miles.

Having an R1 engine with a supercharger is a unique combo. You get super high compression. While my car has a lot of power, it requires 100-110 octane gas to operate and gets terrible mileage. It spark knocks and will not pull a greasy string with 93 octane fuel. So I have to buy racing fuel at around $7.50/gal. It is my understanding that an R1 and R2 block are the same. But the R2 version used lower compression "truck" cylinder heads. The R1 versus R2 carbs and fuel pumps are different too.

If that car has only 43K, it sure sounds like a good deal. Albeit strippiing and repaint will likely cost $5-7K. Good luck!

Don't ya think she means the Avanti was originally SOLD in Canada?
