  • Finishing touches on Bullet Nose

I had my Studebaker Dude logo (see Avatar) redone in different colors for my car. I had it embroidered on my spare tire cover for the trunk and had it worked into the chrome bezel airbrushed on my engine cover.

Does anyone recognize the bird on the engine cover?

Looks like a Thunderbird to me.

    Great looking, by the way.

It's one of the symbols on a 51-52 wheel cover, but I don't know what it signifies for Studebaker.

BINGO! - It's the bird in the Studebaker crest. We changed the center cut-out from a triangle to a circle to fit the logo.

I don't know what it signifies for Studebaker either. Maybe someone can educate us on that. I just thought it looked cool.

Me too, in fact your whole car is cool. Have you posted any other overall views of it?? I was away for the summer so don't know if you showed more shots of it. Last I remember, you had just taken it for a few short shake-down runs at the end of June. Thanks, Junior.

Trying to think back to an Almanac column in TW a few years ago....
Richard covered so many good topics over the years. Including the limited use of the bird emblem. I wanna say Studebaker even had something to do with the name thunderbird.

If all goes well, you may see it in Turning Wheels. I've already submitted it. Now it's up to Art and Ann.
