  • 1960 4 door Lark Wagon

Here is a link to a little wagon I am considering. Never had a wagon so what is the downside to this little car? Is there a way around the missing switches to get the overdrive working and on the road? I'm not worried about the interior, it's just gonna take time and money.

If the missing interior isn't a problem for you, it seems like a reasonable deal. The od can be used with a regular switch on the dash wired directly to the solenoid.

The only switch that should be required is the Kick-down switch, 529479 about $31.00.

If the Solenoid or Governor is bad that's a little more, but not impossible to find or fix. It may just need a simple 3 or 4 wire harness from Trans. to Kick-down switch on the firewall, you can buy that from a Studebaker Vendor at studebakervendors.com or make it yourself.

Not a bad looking car if you are not looking to haul heavy loads, a Trailer or live in a Mountainous area, a V-8 is a lot more desirable and has a higher value, depending on your needs either could work. The purchase price would be more, and the fuel mileage about the same.

If you are fairly new to the Studebaker hobby, look up our 1953-1960 Studebaker Advisor Dwain Grindinger there in Bremerton. Ask him to have a look at it with you. Dwain is a level-headed guy who would provide sound advice.

Then buy him lunch with a beer. BP

Thanks Bob, I'll give Dwain a call and chat. Nice to know there is and expert in my area. I have taken both of my Studebakers to local shows and I am surprised I haven't talked to him or seen his cars.

Well, I didn't know you were around either! Welcome! I wore out on those cruise nights.
I noticed that wagon too, but I keep telling myself I have one Lark now, and don't need another. Still, if that was a V8 car I'd at least have to go get a closer look.
How do you plan to get it home?

To add temptation, I have a 62, no rust, a rebuilt 259, a rebuilt automatic, new brakes, good tires, I have just cleaned the rain gutters and resealed them and painted the top white, the glass is good, needs a paint job and some interior work, 3500.00 or offer.

Dwain, I'll trailer it home if it gets to that point. That's a long drive in an unknown car. Still haven't gotten to go see and kick tires, yet. Oltrknut, is there a way to see some photos? Thanks.
