  • I like this Scotcamino!

I never thought of this on the 56-58 body style, but to my eye it looks almost factory-designed! Obviously the key is starting with a 2-door wagon:

Not at all surprising, Bob, as that's what they did with the El Camino and the Ranchero. It does look like a neat vehicle.

yup, this one has lots of potential, rod it....make it look factory stock...make it look like a commercial vehicle from the 50's...even a B'ville push vehicle. looks like a fun project, too bad I don't have the time/money/space to do something like this but someone out in stude land might want to take it on. I did a drawing of something very similar years ago, but my version started with a '57 Commander 2-door sedan. I really like that he used the Champ rear roof and C-pillar in his design (as I did with my drawing).

Kind of a finned version of Dick's Ute!

A couple of years ago, I made a phantom of a '58 "ute" from an old ad for a Provincial wagon and called it a "Provincial Express". It's close in appearance, though I thought there should be some room behind the seat for stuff. I thought it would look neat with fins.

I need to sell my Commander before I attempt something like this!

Pretty cool, Gary. But as this Scot shows, it has to be made from a 2dr. wagon to get the right proportions

The rear of the "cab" looks a lot like a 57-8 Ranchero to me. It looks like it would take very little work to make it look factory-built, where to my eye Dick's Ute never did. Wonder what the inside of the box area looks like...

Yes. I'm sorry, I forgot unwriten SDC Forum rule #2 just then, I'll try not to let it happen again. But by doing so I did keep myself from bumping into unwriten SDC Forum Rule #1.
