Today I was gutting an old T86 non-overdrive transmission to salavge any useful internal parts. Looks like I got a good gear set, and cluster gear, but the cluster shaft was worn a little too much.
Weird thing: somebody had this apart before me, and evidently found a problem with the spigot bearing between the mainshaft and the input shaft. The journal on the mainshaft had been built up with brass, and machined down. Needless to say, it didn't last very well, and the back of the input shaft was full of brass filings. Not sure if the rollers are OK; I didn't bother checking them, just put them in the small parts box.
So the mainshaft is toast, but that's no big deal as there is very little call for non-overdrive T86s anymore.
