  • 56 Wagon With Fins & Without Fins

I tried to save the fins but couldn't. I worked about 6 hours on them and it was getting worse. My wife take them off it looks better without them. That was all I had to hear.

My wife says it looks better without them. She thinks she is the foreman on this job. Just wait till you see the color she picked out.

Don't tell me. Let me guess... Sweet Pea Pink?

I agree with the wife, these cars do look better without the fins. I'm highly tempted to remove Bess' fins as well.

All the same, just in case you decide to remove and I decide to keep... are the little trim strips on the bottom of yours any good? Mine went to Hell-in-a-handbasket. You wouldn't by any chance know where I could get a set?

I got mine at the local carpet store. They are not exact but close. It is the piece that you put between tile floor and carpet. They had 3 different kinds.

Wives do have some influence! Remember "A Happy Wife is a happy life." Mine loves fins! Thus, my 56 Power Hawk and her new 61 Hawk will both be finned cars!!! I may have been a slow learner, But, This one is a keeper!

Hi Ron. I wonder if it had the same color combo as Ol' Bess?
I kinda like the fins as it brought the car more into the late 50's and was in keeping with the 56-7 sedans that had the raised rear quarters and squared up rear.Still.....the 55's looked good too...

Well you've gone this far, go ahead and stick a late 55 sedan front end on it, or with a little more work to the rear of the fenders a 53-54 and early 55 would work.
