  • Avanti metric speedometer

I just imported a 1963 R2 Avanti from the US and it is
equipped with the the standard 160 mph speedometer.
It works just fine but since I live in Europe I'd like to find
a 280 km/h metric speedometer for it. Does anyone know
where to find one of those? Or did they just put a metric
face plate on the regular speedometer?

Michael, I did not even think that might be a problem, maybe Ian might have one over in Australia, I will ask he does use the forum now and then but I will ask...Bob

Bob, it's really no big problem. You're allowed to use a speedometer in miles over here but since
all the signs are in km/h it's nicer to have a metric one.
Please ask Ian if he might know where to get one.
      Thanks Bob...

I bought an NOS one at a South Bend swap meet or Avanti Motors many years back and am now using it in my R2, since Canada is metric. I saw one a few years back at York swap meet on a table but it had been "abused". There may still be some around in collectors hands. Try SI or Nostalgic - they may have one squirreled away.

          Hi Michael.
I have a metric faceplate decal, that you can glue over the original. Call me.

As WCP stated they are around. I have a NOS metric speedo that I'm going to put in my R2 when it's ready.
