  • 1956 Studebaker President 4 door

My friend is selling his 1956 Studebaker President 4 door. It has been garage kept and is in very good condition. It only took rebuilding the carb. to get the car running, and it runs to back in out of the garage and back in. The paint is dull and the chrome is pitting, but there is little rust, and I didn't see any dents. The interior is in excellent condition. I didn't see any holes or tears in the upholstery. It appears to still have the original spare tire. He has the paperwork from the original selling dealer. This is a 1 owner car. I think the mileage showing is original 38,348 The car could easily be restored or kept as a survivor.

The car is located in Carroll County, Maryland. He is asking $7,500 If you are interested he can be reached at 717-229-2421, between 8am to 9pm. e-mail, gel2145@cs.com, ask for Gary. If you want to see more pictures only, I have them on my pc and can e-mail them to you. My e-mail is Pricej2@comcast.net I have nothing to do with the sale, I'm just posting this as a favor. You will need to contact Gary at the phone # or e-mail address above.

    Hi

While it appears to be a good car, please take the following advice in spirit in which it's intended. If the owner is truly serious about selling his '56 President, it should be a running, driveable car, cleaned up to it's best appearance. And once it's in that condition, still needs to reduce his asking price by at least one-third if he expects to attract any serious buyers.

I've been tracking these '56 President Classics for most of the decade with the intention of buying a good example. I can assure you that cars in the condition this car currently is and priced as this one is are still in the hands of the seller, all for most of the decade.

Good luck in this sale, I may be proven wrong, it's happened many times, but if the status is the same a year or two from now, remember my advice.

    Regards
    Steve

I only took the photographs for him. I didn't set the price. Your point is well taken.

It's close to me, and would love to see the car, ,but priced like a restored, driver, not worth the trip. The owner is just way to optomistc IMHO, but thanks for the post.

Optimistic, or the wife is saying, "Get that old clunker out of the Garage! Now!" And he's offering it for sale just to appease her. Or, he's seen Chevy and Ford prices and thinks a Studebaker (albeit a really nice survivor) will fetch the same price.
