  • "Irene Progress"

I have almost finsihed Irene up. Still waiting on a few chrome pieces to return from the platers, but other than that and the little transmission not shifting correctly its just about done. Which brings me to my next question. Is there anyone close by York, SC that would be willing to write me up an appraisal on some type of letter head for my car. My insurance company needs this before they can up the amount they will cover it for. I only want to insure it for $30,000 for now but they stated that I need someone to write me an appraisal. They also stated that they did not have to be a certified appraiser, just someone with knowledge of the specific vehicle. I have attached some recent photos for review. It you can help me drop me an email at dmanera@yorkcitysc.com. Thanks

Just a thought, but why not get a certified appraiser to do the job, the way I figure it if you ever have to make a claim the insurance company is probably not going to question a certified appraisal. If you don't agree with the certified appraiser's value given on the car you can always build a case with the SDC to get the appraiser to change his appraised value before you submit his appraisal to the insurance company. In my particular case, my appraiser was more than fair in the value he placed on my car so I had no reason to question his work. Also in my case a certified appraisal was a requirement for my insurance policy. The way I see it...this works for my benefit, not the insurance company's. BTW...your car appears to be very very sweet. Good job! Junior

Just beautiful Domenic. It's been great following your build. I have done a few restos over the years, and it's first an anxious feeling when it's sooo close but not finished, the a major sense of accomplishent when the punchlist is complete. Hope you don't fall into my trap of never seeing it as 'finished' and constantly changing things that don't need changing

            Wow! what a beautiful car.
I do believe you have the same paint combo on your '53 as I do on my '55.
But mine needs a little spot painting. <G>

I agree junior, I would prefer to have a certified appraiser, but in my case there are none close by that I am aware of. If I could find one I would most definitley use one. But until I can find one I would be afraid to take her out with the minimum $15,000 that is on the car currently. That is the maximum they can put on the car without the appraisal. Thanks again for all of the comments. I hope to post some more detaield before and after photos later.
