  • 51 champion parts interchange

I'm new to the group. Just bought a 51 champion starlight coupe. What body parts interchange with other models and what years? Mainly I'm wondering about the front fenders. This is the first Stude I've ever had.

I believe all '51 front fenders interchange with '51 front fenders. The Land Cruiser is the only one I'm not 100% sure on.

'50 and '51 fenders, even though they look similar, are slightly different, and don't work together.

BTW welcome. These guys on the forum have helped me a number of times. Join the club, grab a manual, enjoy!

Any 51 fender will work. 50 Commander and LandCruiser fenders are entirely different; 50 Champion inner fenders are entirely different but the outer could be used to section into a 1951. 1952 would fit only if you use the entire clip, hood, grill, etc.

51 front fenders are rare as hens' teeth. I wish you luck in finding a 51-- I searched for a looooong time.... You can fashion an outer 51 out of a '52 by welding in the lower leading edge from your nasty 51 onto the '52, if it's in good enough shape.

Thanks everyone for the info. If it comes down to it my fender can be repaired, but I would prefer to find a good one. I'm going to a studebaker auction tomorrow in South Dakota, maybe I'll find something there. I'm sure I'll be looking for more help so thanks again!

A few years back, a good '51 front clip (fenders, hood, front panel) would bring 6 or 7 hundred bucks. Now, a good fender can bring 300 or more. And REAR fenders for 2-doors! Hoo baby![:0]

BTW, doors will interchange with other 2-door doors (save for convertibles) from '52 thru '47. Rear fenders (there's differences in the taillights mountings) will fit across the same years.
Deck lids - Starlight coupes and Business coupes use one, all others (including convertibles) use another. Of course, there's differences in the trim & trunk handle mounting holes.
4-door doors are the same except for the rear doors on Land Cruisers.
