  • New to the Forum!

    Hey all,

I'm really happy to have finally found a forum for studebakers. I recieved a 48' or 49' Studebaker from my grandfather. He had two and only had time for one of them.

I am missin' alot of parts though. To be exact, I have the body, frame, and tires. That's it. No brakes, steering, engine, trans, nothing.

It's in need of a "little" work.

These fellow Studebaker-friends will help. I was new last year and they have been a great help. Enjoy the Studebakers Drivers Club and the people you will meet at the meets. Glad to have you onboard.

Welcome General! What specific model have you got? Read us the stamped metal tag on the firewall - it should be mounted there with two screws - right near the R/H hood hinge.
With that info, we can start to visualize your Stude and know which pieces you need to round up for it.
Studebaker had two seperate lines of cars during that era - the Champion and the Commander. On top of that, there were numerous body styles for either line and different trim levels as well. So, do read us the first line of digits on that tag. Then we can offer specific help.

Matthew - I have been unable to figure out how you assume that General_Chaos has a "Champ" and with that, I assume that you mean Champion. I can't tell from his/her post if he/she has a Champion, Commander, M Series or 2R Series. Maybe you are just basing your assumption on probability or you have some information that the rest of us do not have.

Greetings, G C! I was wondering if it is feasible in a case like yours to set the body on say, an operational 58 V8 Studebaker Sedan chassis(where the body was a total rust case or whatever), and accomplish several upgrades all at once. Or, is there too much difference in the design of the frame to approach it this way?

GC, to let us see them here, they have to be up (hosted) somewhere on the internet. They can't be posted directly to this site.
IF you like, send them to me and I'll put them up so we can all look at them - OR - post them at RacingStudebakers.com and then link them to here. If you can't figure it out, at least get them hosted there and we'll explain how to link them to this forum.

So it's a truck, eh? Well that's pretty neat. I'll bet we can scare up enough stuff to make it complete. What part of the universe are you in? Shipping's expensive so it's nice to find stuff that's as close to you as possible.

I desided to post the pics on Myspace. If you want to see them they are in pics on here:

                              Okay...

Under my picture is a thing that says:

                              View My: Pics/Videos

Click on pics, from there scroll down alittle bit and there will be some pics of Studebaker parts, not all of them but most of them.
