Here are some pics from the 50th anniversary of the Hawk at Shrock Brothers. It was a lot of fun and the weather was great.

    Jeff,
We had fun. I was hoping someone would post pictures but I can't open them. I've tried on two different computers.

They work fine here in AZ...I really liked the
yellow Lark with the black ragtop...what nice
      surroundings for a show.

I guess I need Flash Player 6 or better. Time to upgrade.

Well, I tried that and still it won't load.[V]

I have an old computer with old software and a slow dial-up Internet connection. It looked like I was getting to the show, but after five minutes it came up with the message "loading problem."

While we were there we saw how they make the steering wheels. These are not restored, filled, sanded and painted.

They find the best original they can and restore as necessary. Then they make a mold. They will use the original core if it's in good shape, otherwise they manufacture a new core. Then all new material is injected into the mold and cured in a pressurized chamber.

Their steering wheels should be considered NNS (new new stock) and are absolutely top shelf, as are all their reproduction items.

I loved the gold convertible (it looks like a rebodied Chrysler Sebring anyone know I'm right?) until I saw the mini-fins on the back.
IMHO: The car has modern body-colored bumpers, raked windshield, an overall "clean" look, then to add fins for a unnecessary bit of retro "style" doesn't make any sense to me.
There was a reason fins were left off the GT, Avanti and other late model Studebakers...when in doubt, leave them off.
Then again, it's not my car.

I saw the Tommy Hawk at SB last year. I thought they should have made the fins a little bigger! But then,I own a finned Hawk.
A 35 yr old friend of mine, has never seen a Hawk except my '61. I've shown him pics of a few C-Ks, he thinks they look totally gross without fins.!!

I've been looking for some time trying to find someone to "restore" the Avanti "woodgrain" steering wheel. About 18 months(?) ago the Shrocks said they were not prepared to take on this job. Anyone out there know of someone who can do a good job with the Avanti wheel? I'm hoping that perhaps some day soon the Shrocks can find the time or whatever to begin redoing the Avanti wheel as I really like it. Thanks. I'd even consider a speciality shop that would redo the wheel with a real wood rim. IMHO Nardi wheels with the wood rim are the tops!
