What a find Dick, both of them! You west coast guys have got it made you know that?
    Yep [8D]

I've only been following Studebakers and belonged to the SDC for about 10 years. Most of the "action" in the past has seemed to me to be East of the Mississippi. Most of this is because the population center of North America is still in the East, and was even further East when Studebaker was building cars.

I think that is changing some. I think that although fewer Studebakers were sold in the West, a higher percentage has survived. Those that have survived are much easier to "bring back" (I almost said "restore" [:0]) than the typical east/midwest cars. I know it's possible, but I have a hard time visualizing a barn find like this Starliner in the rust belt.

Maybe it's just me, but I also see more interest in Studebakers in the West than in prior years. It's not just an "old guys" hobby out here. Plenty of young folks into Studes (especially the customs and modifieds)...or maybe it's because EVERYBODY now looks young to me .

I see it here on the Forum also. A goodly number of West Coasters participate here. I'm guessing a higher percentage than pure population distribution would dictate.

Yep, we've got it made in the West. Relatively rust free cars, year round cruising, good SDC infrastructure, great Stude guys and gals. Hard to beat. [8D]

So true, Dick, especially when the sun shines. No better place to be. Having moved here from the NE, where I 'had' to wear a tie to work, it's so much more laid-back and not so danged many rules & regulations as back east. Give it time, tho...

This could be trouble. Less than 2 days away, complete Lark with excellent running gear and no apparent value, now if I can just find a way to slip it past the wife!

Your right there,Ive seen very few east coast Studes that had floors or rockers, unless they were never winter driven, and thats pretty rare, very few people who bought Studebakers were the type to have another"winter" car.

For as long as I can remember, SDC had more members in the state of California than in any other complete Zone. In fact, when I was a Director, several times I tried to implement Zone realignments partially because the SW Zone had so many members. A bigger percentage of the SDC members in the Mid-West and Northeast were active in SDC. That has been gradually changing to larger numbers of SDC members that are active residing in the Southwest and Southeast, due in part to relocating for retirement, weather or other reasons.
