The '50 Commander has a 245.6 cubic inch six that was rated at 102 HP at 3200 rpm. The wheelbase is 120 inches.
The pickups of that vintage/style came with either a flathead six or an OHV V-8. I have owned three '58-'59 pickups that were all V-8s, both stock and modified. If the 1957 has a six, it is either the 170 cubic inch flathead or the 245 cubic inch flathead. If it is a V-8, it should be a 259 cubic inch OHV.

I'd be proud to have Stude engines under the hoods, but not proud enough to change anything until the 350s crater.
