    Tom,
I was always told you get better pictures on cloudy days anyway. The car looks great now, if you do anymore you'll break the lense on the new camera!

      Yeh!

A great looking, fast stopping Avanti!

I've seen your earlier pics, and this is the best yet.
      Any interior shots?

      Regards,

Thanks guys! The only interior shots are w/ the old camera, that area
needs attention, and I just this last weekend pulled one of the door
sills off to find out where the rust was coming from on the carpet.
It turns out that the steel reinforcement in the rubber door sill is
rusting!! Was nice to find that out, at least it wasnt something more
important. Where you get those from?

I believe the rubber door sills are sold by Jon Myer and probably SI, etc. I think you'll find they are about $135 for the pair.

$135 each, not by the pair.

OUCH! Well I have other more important things to do on the car then
spend that much for door sills (bumper rechroming/exhaust). The ones
that are on the car now are in "good" condition, except the steel has
been rusting inside the molded part. I think I will just take them
both off, and then treat the metal for the rust and put them back on.
They LOOK fine, there was just flakes of rust coming out onto the
carpet. Anyone know a good carpet dye?? My carpet was replaced in
the front, and is jet black, the rear looks brown. I was thinking
for the time being I could just re-dye it in the car.

I have a set of power leather light tan front seats from a 97 Camaro
to replace the cracking stock seats. I need a lumbar support and the
Avanti seats have a 'reverse' lumbar. My back is killing me on a 50
mile drive in the thing. I think that it could be used as a form of
torture in some countries. Guantanamo look out!

In my 1963 and 1964 Avantis, I always placed a large, rolled up towel behind my lower back. It seemed to help a lot.

I was kicking it around, I already GAVE the original steering wheel to
my dad, THEN I saw how much people are asking for them! 1000 bucks?!
I felt bad because my dads 69 Avanti II we put an ugly little grant
on it, and it never looked right (way too small - like a chain one?),
so I gave mine to him, it was MINT condition too. Oh well, after I
found out, I told him that I wasnt going to give him another present
until I got my 1000 dollar credit back!

The rear seat's cover is in good shape, but I was considering having
some new covers made for the Camaro seats, and then having the same
material used to have the rear seat redone. But it seems a waste to
"throw out" the perfectly good rear seat covers. I wonder if I could
find a rear seat with a good structure, but needs recovering to use?
Hummm ... just thinking out "loud" there.

I thought about the pillow or towel trick, but those Camaro seats are
quite comfortable, AND they are basic looking seats, should blend well
with the style of the interior, updating it, but not too much to look
                    out of place.
