I've heard that the power window assembly from a Dodge Caravan will work in my 63 Daytona HT. Has anyone ever tried this?

I don't know if it would work or not, but it would be worth looking into.

I may be telling you something you already know but watch out when you take the regulators apart as the sping action will take a finger right off!

Well, some of the hot rod blokes are using late model "wire rope" power window mechanisms in all sorts of cars. I had a look at a "wire rope" mechanism, and it sure looks versatile. I reckon it could be used on just about any old car with a bit of tinkering.

http://members.provalue.net/studes/ [takes a while to load, lots of pics!]

This is a link to Dave Lesters website-I think he used chebby truck regs.Probably alot of regulators could be adapted. The way he cut out the inside of the doors is probably the best way to attack the job.

I'm not building a all-out hot rod. I just thought maybe I could get a unit from a junk yard cheaper than having my originals rebuilt.

Exactly right, Matthew. The hot-rod blokes I know, get their late-model power window pieces from late model wrecks in the wrecking yard. Who'd want to pay the parts price asked by the dealer?
Besides, pinching a good idea doesn't make your car a hot rod.

My car is the only Lark HT in the whole collection, and Grandma has the only Avanti. I'll DEFINITELY look into it. Hey Mr. Jeff, what did the kit cost you?

I don't know as I was sent one at no charge..
But his street rod kits for two doors is cheaper than one stock Avanti motor...
