  • 1964 Daytona In Hemmings classic cars

There is a great article on a 1964 Daytona in the July issue of Hemmings classic cars. The one thing that struck me was the low value they placed on the best cars as it was only $15,000.00. If any one has a number 1 Daytona convertible out there with disc brakes, R2 engine, and a 4 speed for that price I would love to buy it. That would be way less than what it cost to restore one.

Like most Hemmings magazine articles, it is loaded with factual errors. I believe that Bob P. wrote to them about 12 major errors in that particular article. I used to write corrections to them. They said that they would run future Studebaker articles past me (I offered to review them for free.) and they never did. At this point, I am just letting my subscriptions to all Hemmings publications expire. I noticed errors in other than Studebaker articles. I look to these magazines to learn about other brands, but how would I know what is correct and what is in error in them?

Sounds familiar. I pointed out several errors on aircraft featured in their "Detroit at War" series and they (and I) made the same offer. That was the last I heard from them.

In this month's HMN, they have a piece on the C-17 transport...they got about a dozen things wrong. And not nit-picky stuff...really basic stuff you could get from the USAF website.
I told them I don't expect them to be "Aviation Week", but if you're wrong enough of the time, soon no one will believe anything you write.

Judging by their common staff members...I'd guess they have too few people trying to put out too many (4) magazines (HMN, Classic Car, European & Exotic and muscle car).
